Theresa Brunasso and Debey Stratton to Co-Chair WIT’s 16th Annual WIT Connect: Connecting for a Cause
WIT to Host VIP Reception, Live and Silent Auctions at Atlanta History Center
ATLANTA - April 7, 2010 - Women In Technology (WIT), the leading association committed to the development of Georgia's businesswomen in the technology industry, today announced Theresa Brunasso and Debey Stratton will co-chair WIT Connect: Connecting for a Cause to be held at the Atlanta History Center on June 24, 2010.
“WIT Connect is known in Georgia’s technology community as the high-profile networking event of the year,” says Heather S. Rocker, executive director of WIT. “With Theresa and Debey co-chairing this event, we are confident the 2010 WIT Connect event will live up to the high expectations.”
WIT Connect is a unique fundraiser that auctions the time of executives of top Atlanta corporations and draws hundreds of the technology community’s leaders together to raise money to support WIT programs and philanthropy initiatives.
Theresa Brunasso is a 30-year veteran in the field of electrical engineering, and is currently a consultant in the Microwave Aerospace and Defense Community. Previously, she spent more than 20 years at EMS Technologies, Defense and Space Systems division. At D&SS, Theresa served as Microwave Engineering Manager, Director of Technology Development, and provided innovative design and development expertise for D&SS heritage programs such as DarkStar, NSTAR, Milstar, Advanced EHF, IntelSat and Mars Science Lab. Prior to joining GTRI, Theresa spent two years as an Engineer for Teledyne MEC, and began her career in the U.S. Navy as an Instructor at the Consolidated Naval Electronic Warfare School in Pensacola, FL.
“The Wall Street Journal recently reported the March U.S. manufacturing index registered its best reading since 2004, and the employment rate is on the rise. Factories world-wide are increasing production, and these strong indicators fuel optimism in the global economic recovery,” says Brunasso. “The long-awaited economic recovery has started, which makes this the perfect time to meet with Atlanta's technology leaders at WIT Connect.”
Debey Stratton is an executive assistant and office manager with Genesys, an Alcatel-Lucent Company, where she provides support to senior vice president and vice president-level executives on the Strategic Solutions team. Prior to her position with Genesys, Debey worked for OnSite Resource Solutions, MDI Group and Linden and Fenton (Mich.) community schools. Debey has been an active volunteer with WIT since 2006, serving as the project manager for 2009 WIT Connect.
“In 2009, during a struggling economy, WIT Connect raised more than $220,000 for WIT’s philanthropies and programs,” said Stratton. “This is a testament to the commitment the Atlanta technology community has to supporting organizations like WIT. We’ve contacted past attendees to determine which companies they want to bid on in this year’s auction, and the WIT Connect team has already secured highly requested companies such as ING, Cisco and NCR. I am thrilled at the number of new companies we’ve added to the silent and live auctions for 2010.”
