Join us for an interactive panel discussion that will enlighten and empower girls and young women to pursue careers in STEM. You’ll get to meet women from a diverse set of STEM careers and learn about their unique journeys that led them to their respective careers. Panelists will share advice, guidance, and to-do’s specific to girls and young women to help jumpstart their STEM journeys. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of the panelists and Stephanie Espy, MIT engineer and author of STEM Gems: How 44 Women Shine in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, And How You Can Too! This event is targeted to parents as well as girls and young women ages 10-22.

Dr. Andrea Bowens-Jones is a former Procter & Gamble, R&D Manager where she developed The Resident Scholar Program, a youth STEM pipeline development initiative. As a Certified Coach and President/CEO of IDG Vision,LLC, Dr. Bowens-Jones offers consulting and personal/professional development services to help people/organizations achieve success.

EDILSAEdilsa LeGrier is a Sales Engineer at Cisco providing innovative technical sales strategies to Cisco’s global customers and partners.

In her spare time, Edilsa has many passions including volunteering and mentorship. She has served as the Co-Lead for Cisco’s annual Girls Power Tech, has volunteered with WIT forums for the past 2 years and is a Georgia Institute of Technology Executive MBA ambassador. Additionally, Edilsa provides weekly reading instruction to a first grader via Tutor Mate and has previously mentored with Year-Up. Other interests include reading, cooking, traveling, and attending her two children’s sporting activities.

Edilsa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Information Systems from University of Maryland, and a Master’s in Business Management from Georgia Institute of Technology.

Georgia TRiO in conjunction with MICROSOFT, the Atlanta City Council President Ceasar Mitchell, the WNBA”s Atlanta DREAM, and our community partners will sponsor its 3rd Annual STEM Wars event on Saturday, April 8, 2017 on the campus of Atlanta Metropolitan State College in Atlanta, GA. STEM Wars has become the largest STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) initiative in the country dedicated to the engagement of minority, low-income, and first-generation college students in STEM fields and careers!

Georgia Bio/ACTSI 8th Annual Academic & Industry Intersection Conference
