
2011 Winners
WIT announced the winners of its 12th annual Women of the Year in Technology Awards at an awards gala on Thursday, November 10th at the Foundry at Puritan Mill.
Winners will be announced in three categories:
1) enterprise business, representing companies with more than 2,500 employees;
2) medium business, representing companies with 251 to 2,500 employees, and;
3) small business, representing companies with 250 employees or less.
2011 Winner - Enterprise Business
Trish Jones
As the chief emerging technologies officer for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.), Trish Jones is responsible for leading the emerging platform, audience-facing technology, sales solutions and audience data teams for Turner worldwide. Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., a Time Warner company, creates and programs branded news, entertainment, animation and young adult media and sports content environments on television and digital platforms for consumers around the world.
Jones joined TBS, Inc. in 2000, and her previous roles with the company included senior vice president of Strategic Audience Solutions for TBS, Inc., deputy general counsel for TBS, Inc. and executive vice president and general counsel for TBS International, Inc. Prior to joining Turner, Trish held business and legal positions with The Coca-Cola Company from 1996 to 2000 and served as senior intellectual property and international counsel for Anacomp, Inc. from 1992-1996. She began her career as a member of the Corporate & Technology Practice Group with the law firm of Powell, Goldstein, Frazer and Murphy in Atlanta in 1989.
Trish earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Spring Hill College, a juris doctor degree from the University of Richmond, and an LL.M with a concentration in international law from Georgetown University Law Center. She chairs the advisory board of the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy; is a member of the Atlanta Women’s Foundation, Women in Cable and Telecommunications and the National Center for Women in Technology; and is on the national board of the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.
2011 Winner - Medium Business
Carrie Wheeler
As Cbeyond's chief information officer, Carrie is responsible for IT strategy, capital planning and management, and application development. Her scope of support includes customer relationship management, operational support systems, billing and billing operations, customer applications and online properties. She also supports Cbeyond's external customer facing applications and internal sales, service and corporate support applications. Carrie joined Cbeyond in 2009 to lead the company’s information technology strategy and planning teams. Prior to joining Cbeyond, she held several IT leadership positions at highly regarded companies, including AT&T, BellSouth, MCI Communications and Accenture.More
Carrie complements her diverse set of skills by giving back to the community where she lives and works. She currently serves on the board of the Georgia Ballet and is an active supporter of Girls Inc., while also a member of the Technology Association of Georgia, Women in Technology, Atlanta Telecommunications Professionals and Cbeyond's Women's Network. In 2010, she was nominated for Women in Technology's Women of the Year Award.
Carrie holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor’s of Science in Marketing and Finance from Trinity University. Throughout her career, Carrie has received multiple awards – two of which she is particularly proud of: (1)Ring of Champions, Excellence in Information Technology Leadership, awarded to the top 1% of MCI technology professionals; (2) Masters Champion, Excellence in Sales Excellence, awarded to five non-sales professionals annually who have contributed significantly to the success of the sales organization.
2011 Winner - Small Business
Jenni Crenshaw
The third employee of Jabian Consulting, Jenni Crenshaw joined the company as a senior manager in 2007, coming from Accenture and eager to be a part of the new firm. She rose quickly to the role of director in 2008, and was named executive director in April 2011. Jenni is a well-known pragmatic architect who specializes in performing systems integration based on data analysis. Throughout most of her career, Jenni has used integration and analysis skills to help client companies get more from their customer relationship management tools and practices. Jenni’s systems integration experience has led her to focus on improving and defining best practices for Enterprise Architecture. Prior to joining Jabian Consulting, Jenni worked with Accenture in their communications and high tech practice focusing on Enterprise Architecture and systems integration.More
Jenni holds a Bachelor of Science from Mississippi State University in Chemical Engineering. At Mississippi State, Jenni led a student organization focused on creating and strengthening industry for the engineering school. This effort allowed Jenni to serve on the Advisory Board for the department from 2000 until 2003.
Passionate about mentoring and helping others, Jenni has found avenues to give back to the community. She serves as the program chair for the WIT Girls Get IT Job Shadow Program, which provides girls with the opportunity to spend a week on the job with a mentor learning what is available for women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Jenni also volunteers with Northside Hospital in a program designed to help women and their familes who are experiencing high risk pregnancies.
Outside of work, Jenni keeps a busy schedule with her husband Craig and daughters, Noel (7) and Eliana (4). When she is not participating in extracurricular activities for the children, she enjoys reading, watching football and travelling with her husband.
