2009 Winners

WIT announced the winners of its 10th annual Women of the Year in Technology Awards at an awards gala on October 1st at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel.

Winners were announced in three categories: 1) enterprise business, representing companies with more than 2,500 employees; 2) medium business, representing companies with 251 to 2,500 employees, and; 3) small business, representing companies with 250 employees or less.

2009 Winner - Enterprise Business

Amy Brady is WIT's 2009 Woman of the Year in Technology, Enterprise Leve. She leads the Enterprise Technology & Delivery (ET&D) Global Integrated Business & Technology Services (GIB&TS) organization at Bank of America, reporting to Marc Gordon, Chief Technology Officer.More

Brady brings a wide range of experience to this role, with more than 20 years experience in the industry. She previously served as the Vision Transformation Program Executive for the Network Computing Group (NCG) at Bank of America, reporting to the Chief Technology Officer. She provided technical, functional and strategic leadership for a major cross organizational change initiative, including implementing new technology, information, process, product and people frameworks that led to improved operational effectiveness and rapid, on-demand technology products to the enterprise.

Earlier, as Customer Experience & Operations Executive for the Consumer & Corporate Services Technology Group, Brady led operations functions including the Software Engineering Performance Center, Release Management, Testing Center of Excellence, Production Support for Consumer and Corporate Staff and Global Sourcing Governance and Strategy.

During her career, Brady has held a wide variety of management positions at Bank of America, including roles within the Consumer Bank as a Store Manager, Sales and Service Manager and Consumer Executive. She also managed an innovative research and development program charged with designing and testing products, services and delivery methods to significantly enhance customer experience.

Brady serves as the Executive Sponsor for Bank of America’s Women in Technology and Operations group, which has 12 active chapters around the world, as well as for the Atlanta LEAD Chapter of Bank of America’s women’s networking group.

Brady graduated from Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla. with a degree in Psychology and Music. Active in her community, she serves on numerous boards including as Chairperson for the International Committee of the Metro Atlanta YMCA. Previously, Brady was Marketing Vice Chairperson of Imagine It! Children’s Museum of Atlanta.

Shannon Johnston

Shannon Johnston is CTO at Points of Light Institute.  She leads the technology organization and is responsible for Web, Salesforce, and Infrastructure design and delivery, and affiliate and partner support for Points of Light’s technology products. More

From 2001 to 2009 Shannon held various senior positions at CompuCredit, a financial services company, most recently Vice President, Global Infrastructure Services, responsible for worldwide IT Operations. She relocated to the UK for a year in 2007 to build and deliver the UK IT strategy and plan for CompuCredit’s entrance into the EEU financial markets and prior to that built an eBusiness organization to bring the company to the internet for their corporate and customer service needs.

Prior to joining CompuCredit, Shannon held senior positions in relationship management in the financial services industry, both for TSYS (www.tsys.com) and Enhancement Services (www.escloyalty.com).

Shannon is a member TAG (Technology Association of Georgia), the MentorNet community and IAOP (International Association for Outsourcing Professionals). She is an active volunteer in TAG’s societies, WIT (Women in Technology) and is on the board of directors for TAG Diversity. She is the recipient of WIT’s 2009 Women of the Year in Technology award for medium sized business.

Linda Greer Braddon, Ph.D

Linda G. Braddon, Ph.D, Is WIT's 2009 Woman of the Year in Small Business. She is the President of  Secure BioMed Evaluations (SecureBME) and has considerable experience supporting the engineering efforts of emerging medical device companies.More

In the past, Dr. Braddon has been very active in both civic and charitable groups by serving in leadership positions in Rotary, Roswell Junior Woman’s Club, and Alpharetta Street Association. She has also served on the advisory boards of Star House, Drake House and the Roswell Convention and Visitors Bureau. Under her guidance and leadership, her community involvement has resulted in numerous awards for the groups where she was involved.

Dr. Braddon holds a bachelor of science in Engineering from Mercer University School of Engineering, along with a master of science and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering with a specialization in bioengineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. She has served as a National Science Foundation fellow at both Duke University and Georgia Tech to guide undergraduate research in physics and biomedical engineering.

Currently, in her position at Secure BioMed Evaluation, she provides consulting services in the areas of risk assessment, mechanical test design and execution, quality systems and product development. Dr. Braddon's professional experience includes extensive work in tissue engineering with a specialty in biomechanics, biofluids and bioprocesses. She is the co-inventor of a U.S. patent for an orthopaedic device that is CE marked and is currently going through the FDA approval process. Dr. Braddon has conducted considerable research, and has been published on various tissue and bioengineering topics. She is an active member of Georgia Bio, where she serves on the medical device committee, Southeastern Medical Device Association, and American Standards for Testing and Materials where she leads work items on novel biomaterials.
