Student Chapters (Pre-Career)

This program focuses on girls and young women; program strives to build and maintain interest in technology careers for women; chapters available to female students in middle school, high school, and college.

Responsible for the overall planning and execution of Student Chapters in alignment with the Strategic and Annual plan. Reports directly to WIT’s Executive Director.

Overall responsibilities include:

  • Participating in monthly Program Manager meetings facilitated by the Executive Director
  • Attending the WIT Leadership Team Workshop (February 2010)
  • Compiling and monitoring the Annual Plan for the Student Chapters program area
  • Serving as the principal guidance resource for the Chairpersons of Student Chapters
  • Disseminating information to all members of the Student Chapters program area as requested by the WIT Executive Team
  • Tracking metrics appropriate for the Student Chapters program area including expenses and revenues for each committee in relation to the budget
  • Submitting draft budgets for the Student Chapters programs as requested for the WIT Finance Committee budget process
  • Coordinating with each Student Chapters Chair and Girls Get IT Chairs to develop plans and timelines
  • Ensuring that all members of the Student Chapters program area are completing their assigned responsibilities providing training and guidance as needed
  • Work with Executive Director to place volunteers and direct their efforts

The responsibility of the Student Chapters Chair is to set the overall direction and execution of the program, working with the Student Chaptesr Program Manager to ensure program consistency and fit within the Pre-Career programs and the WIT Strategic and Annual Plan; ensure processes and procedures are documented, implemented and followed by all program volunteers.
 

The responsibility of the College Programs Chair(s) is to set or revise as necessary the overall direction and execution of the program, working with the Pre-Career Program Manager to ensure program consistency and fit within the Pre-Career programs.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Liaison with the schools and key contacts (e.g. help with strategy, planning, formulation of partnership, speakers, etc.)
  • Work with Marketing to develop materials for student recruitment
  • Relationship management of formal partnership once established
  • Manage the approved program budget
  • Ensure processes and procedures are documented, implemented and followed by all program volunteers

The responsibility of the High School Programs Chair(s) is to set or revise as necessary the overall direction and execution of the program, working with the Pre-Career Program Manager to ensure program consistency and fit within the Pre-Career programs.
