New Board Members Include Technology Executives from Jabian, Goizueta Business School at Emory University and Manheim
Atlanta, GA – January 28, 2014 – The Atlanta-based non-profit association Women in Technology (WIT) announced the 2014 board of directors for WIT and the WIT Foundation (WIT’s philanthropic arm), including the appointment of three female technology executives from prominent Atlanta-area organizations, including Goizueta Business School at Emory University, Manheim and Jabian Consulting.
WIT’s updated mission is to serve as passionate advocates for women of all ages in Georgia’s science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) community. The organization is actively focused on providing professional development, recognizing deserving leaders and delivering compelling programs that inspire and encourage young women to pursue technology careers.
“We are honored that such high-caliber professionals are, not just willing, but excited to join our board,” said Tricia Dempsey, returning WIT board member and incoming WIT president. “We envision WIT’s work contributing significantly to a substantial rise in the percentage of women in Georgia’s STEM workforce by 2020, a lofty goal that I feel confident will be achieved at the direction of this incredible group of professional women.”
“As the philanthropic side of WIT, the work the WIT Foundation does is incredibly important to our commitment to increase the percentage of women in Georgia’s STEM workforce,” said Denise Reese, returning WIT Foundation board member and incoming president of the WIT Foundation. “We have achieved so much these past few years, with the addition of WIT on Campus and an increase in the amount of grants going out to STEM-related nonprofits, and I am positive that the women on the 2014 WIT Foundation board bring the right amount of experience, wisdom and enthusiasm to support continued growth.”
