Atlanta – June 2, 2009 – Women in Technology (WIT), the leading association devoted to developing and promoting women for success in technology in Georgia, is launching the call for nominations today for the 10TH annual Women of the Year in Technology Awards (WOTY) presented by Grant Thornton. Applications are available online at until the July 24 deadline for submission.

WIT’s Women of the Year in Technology celebrates women technology executives for their accomplishments as leaders in business, visionaries of technology and women who make a difference in our communities. To qualify, women must hold business, technology or scientific leadership roles within a technology organization or maintain technology or scientific leadership positions within a non-technology organization.

The event is co-chaired this year by Marianne Johnson, senior vice president of Global Technology New Product Innovation for Equifax and 2008 WOTY winner in the enterprise category, and Beth Westbrook, marketing manager for Grant Thornton’s Atlanta office.

Johnson leads a team focused on creating and delivering new product innovation to drive growth across the Equifax enterprise and empower customers to make decisions with greater insight and confidence. Through her efforts, Equifax has launched numerous unique solutions to help customers address emerging market needs and capture new opportunities in their industries. Since joining Equifax in 1996, Johnson has held a number of leadership positions. Recently, she led a global technology organization of more than 125 associates dedicated to the company’s marketing services business. Prior to this role, she served as vice president of fulfillment for Equifax Enabling Technologies, a multi-million dollar business that provides account acquisition, credit risk decisioning and fraud prevention solutions to leading banks and financial institutions. During her tenure at Equifax, Marianne has received a number of accolades for her leadership and new product innovation.

Johnson is an active member of Technology Association of Georgia (TAG), the Hospital Financial Management Association (HFMA) and a WIT board member. Most recently, Johnson was honored as a Turknett Leadership Character Award Nominee.

Westbrook leads marketing for Grant Thornton LLP’s Atlanta office and has been with the firm for six years. She is responsible for integrating the firm’s national strategic marketing plans into the Atlanta office and for development of local office marketing strategy. Westbrook works closely with local partners, managers and business development to create and implement service line and industry marketing initiatives and events. She provides quality assurance for all marketing deliverables including events, proposals, campaigns and special projects and leads the Atlanta office Community Action Committee.

Westbrook’s prior experience includes managing the marketing team of Abaco PR, Inc., a technology company based in Atlanta with international operations. She also provided marketing services for two professional associations managed by the Kellen Company—the Calorie Control Council and Georgia Financial Services Association.

Westbrook is a member of WIT, the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) and Women of UGA. Westbrook served as marketing chair for the 2008 Women of the Year in Technology Awards. She works with elementary and high school students through Junior Achievement’s JA in a Day and JA Fellows programs.
