Atlanta, GA – August 18, 2011 – Women in Technology (WIT), one of Georgia’s premier technology organizations, announced that three of its distinguished leaders have been nominated for the 2011 Turknett Leadership Character Award. WIT Board Members Terry Trout and Tricia Dempsey, and 2010 WIT Awards Winner Lisa McVey have all been nominated in recognition of their outstanding character and leadership. Previous WIT leaders to receive this honor also include WIT Board Member Denise Billups, in 2007, and WIT Executive Director Heather Rocker, who received the award in 2009 in the Inspiritor category.

“We are delighted that the accomplishments of these outstanding women are being recognized,” commented Sandra Hofmann, WIT’s president. “Anyone can see that these women are true leaders in their professions and contribute a great deal to Georgia’s technology community, but to see them nominated for an award that sets the standard for character in leadership is a true testament to depth of integrity these women represent.”

The award, established in 2002 by Turknett Leadership Group, is an annual recognition that specifically recognizes individuals who demonstrate character in the way they lead others: high levels of integrity; relating to employees, customers, suppliers and others with respect; and maintaining a culture in which everyone takes responsibility for achieving  results while upholding the organization’s core values.

Terry Trout, vice president, customer experience at Cbeyond Communications, was nominated in the Inspiritor category. Tricia Dempsey, CEO at Agile Resources, Inc. was nominated in the CEO/President/Managing Partner category. Lisa McVey, chief information officer at McKesson Technology solutions was nominated in the Executive/Manager category. The winners of the awards will be announced at the Eighth Annual Leadership Character Awards Luncheon on September 15 at  12  p.m. at the Georgia Aquarium.

WIT is also accepting nominations for its annual Women of the Year in Technology awards, celebrating women technology executives for their accomplishments as leaders in business, visionaries of technology and women who make a difference in our communities. Nominations are open until September 2, and the awards ceremony will be held on November 10 at 5:30 p.m. at the Foundry at Puritan Mill. For more information, visit
