Each year, WIT Girls high school students gather at companies across Atlanta to learn about STEAM and gain real-life experience in the workplace. Please apply today to participate as a host company for the 2019 WIT Girls Job Shadow Program!

Host Company Requirements

  • Must be a WIT Partner
  • Must be able to host a minimum of 5 WIT Girls
  • Must provide a primary point of contact for all Job Shadow communications
  • Must provide the following to the Job Shadow team by 5 PM on May 15, 2019:
    • Specifics around check-in requirements, dress code, and program timing
    • 3-day agenda designed to deliver the learning objectives outlined below
  • Must provide the following to the Job Shadow team during Job Shadow week:
    • Daily attendance report for WIT Girls participants June 11 – 13
    • Girls’ presentation for Closing Ceremony by end of day Thursday, June 13th

Timeline

2/28/19 Host company applications due by midnight
March TBD Kickoff call with participating host companies
5/15/19 Host company agendas and additional details due by 5 PM
6/10/19 Opening Ceremony at Cox Automotive
6/11/19 – 6/13/19 WIT Girls Job Shadow at host companies
6/14/19 Closing Ceremony at Cox Automotive

Learning Objectives

  • WIT Opening Ceremony
    • Girls will receive soft skills training that they are expected to demonstrate during their job shadowing experience and at the closing ceremony
  • Host Companies (Days 2 – 4)
    • Girls will experience applying a STEAM degree in a real work environment through hands-on activities
    • Girls will better understand working cooperatively in a team
    • Girls will better understand how business works in STEAM-related fields
  • WIT Closing Ceremony
    • Girls will practice and improve their presentation skills by delivering a final presentation
