Sandy Welfare, WIT Executive Director

From our Executive Director, Sandy Welfare

Last Thursday we hosted our annual fundraising event – WIT Connect 2018. This year’s event was a momentous occasion as we presented 12 amazing girls and women with $115,000 in scholarship awards – our largest number to date.

This year, we were proud to be joined by GE as our Presenting sponsor and State Farm as our VIP reception sponsor for the second consecutive year.

These two companies, among many of our other partners and sponsors, share our concern for the alarming statistics of females in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM). And as partners, we are all vastly committed to supporting girls and women who aspire to advance in STEAM fields.

It is no secret that changing the trajectory of the industry requires a collective effort. This is why we are pleased to announce that due to the overwhelming support and generosity of our sponsors, partners, and supporters, we raised over $350,000 in funds to support our WIT Girls and WIT Campus programs. The funds we raised will go a long way in helping us reverse the current landscape for girls and women in STEAM.

We’d like to thank each and every one of you for your compassionate giving and commitment to our mission. Your contributions give hope to girls and women who dream to excel in these fields, across all industries.

To our sponsors, partners, Board of Directors, Advisory Council, WIT staff, and volunteers – none of this would be possible without your unparalleled support.

As we reach the midpoint of the year, we are excited to shift our focus to our next signature event – WIT Awards on November 8, 2018, at the Georgia Aquarium. We ask that you nominate a female leader in business or technology and meet us there. We look forward to seeing you!

Again, on behalf of Women In Technology, we thank you for your continued support and generosity.
