From our Executive Director, Sandy Welfare
Yesterday, we hosted the 18th annual WIT Awards Gala – our signature event celebrating female achievement and leadership in Georgia’s science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) community.
This year, we were proud to be joined by Coca-Cola as our Presenting sponsor and Cox Automotive as our VIP reception sponsor for the second consecutive year.
It is an honor to be supported by companies that are major proponents of diversity and inclusion, who also align with our mission to empower girls and women to excel in STEAM.
The energy in the room last night was incredible as we honored four female leaders and one young girl who are doing their part to empower STEAM in their workplaces, communities, and schools. Congratulations again to our winners!
Although only five awards were distributed on stage last night, it would be remiss of me not to also acknowledge the girls and women who were nominated by their peers, coworkers, community members and friends for the impact that they make in their personal circles every day.
We truly thank each of you for taking part in this process and for being phenomenal, impactful forces who are paving the way for the future.
In addition to celebrating and honoring women, I am pleased to share that we raised over $300,000 to support WIT’s programs that include supporting young girls in underserved communities.
With the conclusion of our final signature event of the year, we are happy to shift our focus to planning fruitful programs and events that will continue to educate, uplift, and inspire women from the classroom to the boardroom.
We’re moving full ‘STEAM’ ahead into 2019, and we can’t wait for you to see what we have in store.
On behalf of Women In Technology, we thank you for your continued support and generosity.
