WIT GIRLS

The statistics are alarming: according to the National Science Foundation, America lags behind other nations in the number of students majoring in science and engineering at colleges and universities. To improve this statistic, WIT Girls collaborates with the Georgia business community to support and inspire girls in middle and high school to break through barriers and advance opportunities in STEAM fields.

In 2014, nearly 500 female students benefited from WIT Girls’ four main programs: Behind-the-Scenes Workshops, Career Exploration Workshops, Immersion Experience and the Job Shadow Program. By collaborating with companies like Autotrader, First Data, Georgia Pacific, McKesson, GM, State Farm, Turner, SunTrust, and IBM, and with educational/nonprofit organizations such as Ron Clark Academy, Georgia FIRST Robotics, Cool Girls, Girl Scouts, Junior Achievement and many Atlanta-area schools, we were able to offer these events at no charge to the students.

They were divided into different roles and used agile project management methodologies to solve the problem and present it to the executive team at The Coca-Cola.
